This work can simply be seen as a successful day out fishing, and there is so much life in this work. The original painting was painted in 2001 and is in a style I developed when I painted in a water colour technique on paper. Looking at this work now I imagine I was drawn to this subject matter because of the colour, composition and the light.

This print is taken from a photo I took looking out from Tiritiri Matangi island. Looking at the map I think the land forms in the distance have to be Little Barrier, Great Barrier and the Coromandel. It was an amazing place to visit, and I want to go back and stay overnight. This print of my most recent painting looks down onto Hahei beach and over to Te Pare Point with the Alderman islands in the distance. The serenity of this place, of places like this on a hot summer's day beckon the viewer to visit. I certainly want to go back to Hahei, it's been a while...

This is a print from a painting I have just finished. It depicts a view from Urupukapuka island overlooking the Waewaetorea channel to Waewaetorea island in - New Zealand's northland - the beautiful Bay of Islands. This area is special to me, it's where I grew up as a child and where my family have lived for generations.

In the late afternoon at the beach looking through the silhouette of a Pohutukawa tree up into the aether or quintessence (a medium which fills the space of the universe above the earthly sphere). The forms of this tree takes on an ethereal beauty - simultaneously familiar to us and otherworldly.
